the resurgence of Mod on Mod, SXSW sightings, and so on

Mod on Mod, from Yarnplay, seems to be making a big comeback. i've been seeing it everywhere. there's even a knitting shop in Colorado that has a Mod on Mod workshop coming up! this stunning mod-in-progress is being knit by someone from the Yarnplay At Home Ravelry group. it is going to be a present for her brother-in-law's birthday. i think this palette is the most exciting that i've seen yet. i love it when a knitter comes up with a color combination that would never have entered my mind.
i am almost finished knitting Justina! i am pretty excited. so far, it's looking good. keeping my fingers crossed that it will be a perfect fit.
the madness that is SXSW is in full swing. i tend to be more interested in the cool people that i meet who are attending the conference rather than the performers. last year i sat next to David Byrne at dinner and we had a pretty interesting conversation about music. today i had a conversation with film critic Elvis Mitchell about dreadlocks. he wanted to know if i had ever had them. i would have loved to have had a conversation with him about film, but it felt a bit weird, in a geeky fan sort of way, to acknowledge that i knew who he was.

I am going to treat myself to your books for my birthday!
